Port Charlotte SC: 01 2012 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Bruichladdich Distillery extends the exceptional range of the Port Charlotte brand with Port Charlotte SC:01. For the first time in this cask series, this bottling contains 100% barley from the island of Islay. The harvest of the barley was carried out in 2011 by seven agricultural partners of the distillery, which are located no more than 10 miles away. The 9-year maturation of the single malt began in hand-selected sherry casks and first- and second-fill American whiskey casks.

Bruichladdich present this wonderfully smoky-sweet expression, released as a part of their heavily peated Port Charlotte range. The single malt has been made with 100% Islay barley, and matured in a combination of sherry butts and American oak casks with a finish in Sauternes wine casks. Bottled at 55.2% abv, and free from chill filtration.
